Bruges, Belgium, is one of the oldest cities in Europe, and has a fascinating architectural history. Much of the architecture is left over from the Middle Ages and from 19th century renovations. Sometimes called the Venice of the North, it also contains canals and is home to the port Zeebrugge on the North Sea. It is the second biggest port of Belgium and one Europe's most important ports.
