Bruce Bochy is the manager of the San Francisco Giants. Bochy managed the San Diego Padres for 12 seasons prior to signing a three-year contract to managed the Giants on October 27, 2006.

Prior to becoming a manager, Bochy spent nine seasons as a major league catcher. Bochy spent ten season in the major leagues, playing with the Houston Astros, New York Mets and the San Diego Padres. Bochy was drafted by the Houston Astros in the first round of the 1975 amateur draft, and made is MLB debut in 1978. In nine seasons with the Astros, New York Mets and San Diego Padres|Padres, Bochy hit .239 Batting Average, with 26 Home Runs and 93 Runs Batted In. Despite playing in the majors for nine years, Bocky played on just two playoff teams. One of those teams was the 1984 National League Champion San Diego Padres. Bochy began his managerial career in the 1995 season with the team he formerly played for, the Padres. In just his second season, Bochy took the Padres to the 1996 NL West Pennant. Two years later, in 1998, Bochy led the Padres to the 1998 World Series, where the team was swept out of the playoffs by the New York Yankees. The Padres would not be back to the playoffs under Bochy again until 2005, where the Padres won the NL West again. In 2005 and 2006, the Padres were eliminated in the National League Divisional Series.

Bochy moved to the San Francisco Giants in 2007. After missing the playoffs the first three years, the Giants won the NL West in 2010 on the last day of the season.
