• Plot

  Carrey stars as the title character Bruce Nolan, a disgruntled television news anchor. Expecting a promotion, when Bruce realizes that it was given to fellow news anchor Evan Baxter, played by Carell, Bruce flips out, cursing during an on-air live segment. Needless to say Bruce is fired from the news station. Despite his relationship with his girlfriend Grace, played by Aniston, Bruce thinks that God has dealt him a bad life and asks God why. The following day he is summoned to an empty warehouse, where he meets God, and is given all of his powers, since Bruce thinks he can do a better job with them than God has. Once Bruce realizes exactly how much power he has, he exploits it, enlarging Grace's breasts and even making a monkey pop out of a mugger's behind. Bruce later realizes that he must use his powers to help others as well, but finding that balance is not as easy as it seems.
