Brown University

Brown University is a private institution of higher education granting undergraduate, graduate and medical degree located in Providence, Rhode Island. The school is part of the Ivy League athletic conference.

Brown University was founded in the Baptist tradition as the College of Rhode Island in 1764. It was renamed in 1804 for Nicholas Brown, who gave a monetary gift to the school.
