The following is a collection of fake trailers meant to parody Brokeback Mountain featuring characters from elsewhere in the film and television universe and selective editing to take the script out of context. In doing so, characters are given different spins on relationships, following the Brokeback theme of male bonding.
Favorites include Brokeback to the Future, a mashup of clips from Back to the Future and The Empire Breaks Back, based on The Empire Strikes Back. In Spongeback Mountain, it is suggested that Spongebob and Patrick have a bit of sexual tension.
There are currently over 52 different parodies totaling more than 67 million page views. On the Bravo channel, Outrageous and Contagious: Viral Videos featured some of their favorite Brokeback Parodies. Topping their list was Broke Mac Mountain.
The original Brokeback Mountain made $75 million in box office earnings.
