Music
1998 saw the release of Britney's debut single "...Baby One More Time" which was an immediate success and turned her into an instant teen pop sensation. Her follow-up album, Oops!...I Did it Again, debuted at #1 and broke sales records around the world. After a highly anticipated tour and controversial performance at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, Spears added to her success by winning two billboard music awards and earning two Grammy nominations.
Personal Troubles
2007-08 wasn't easy for Spears. After a short stint in rehab, Spears was ordered to submit to random drug tests and parenting classes in order to continue having shared custody of her two children. After losing custody of her children to Federline in late 2007, Spears was hospitalized for undisclosed medical reasons and held for a complete psychiatric evaluation. While Britney has reclaimed limited visitation rights of her children, her daily activities and antics have become a staple of tabloid news shows, magazines and blogs.
