Britney Spears' sixth studio album, titled Circus, was released on December 2, 2008. Circus is the follow-up to Spears' 2007 album, BlackoutJust Jared: Britney is Womanizer Waiting (September 23, 2008) The album was released to coincide with Spears' 27th birthday.

The first single from the album, "Womanizer" was released to radio stations on September 26. "Womanizer" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2008. On November 16, 2008, PerezHilton.com reported that the entire Circus album had been leaked online, weeks before its intended release.
