Pop singer Britney Spears turned herself in to the Van Nuys, California Police Station at 9 p.m. on October 15, 2007 for a hit and run incident that occurred on August 6, 2007 causing property damage and for driving without a valid California drivers license. The hit and run allegedly took place in a Studio City, California parking lot and was video taped by the paparazzi. The maximum penalty for the crime is a year in jail.
Accident Details
The accident took place in a store parking lot. Spears allegedly made a wide right turn into a marked parking space and came in contact with another car's bumper. The damaged car's owner filed a police report at the local police station.
Drivers License Violation
Spears was never issued a California drivers license. Residents of California are supposed to get a California driver's license within ten days of moving there. Spears has reportedly been pulled over by authorities several times and cited for driving without the appropriate license.
