Mainstream Press Reviews
- EW.com review: "Poetry it's not. Still, there is something delightfully escapist about Blackout, a perfectly serviceable dance album abundant in the kind of bouncy electro elements that buttressed her hottest hits (I'm a Slave 4 U, Toxic). Say what you will about Spears' personal life, but there's no denying that the girl knows how to have a good time. (EW Grade: B+)
- USA Today review: The best thing about Blackout is that it makes no pretense about showcasing her vocal prowess with warbled ballads. For Britney, hitting the high notes means getting you into the groove so you can get into her. You can move your feet or just move on. (USA Today: 2 1/2 Stars out of 4)
- Newsday review: "Like much of the pre-fab dance beats and the robotic, studio-enhanced vocals that fill it, "Blackout" is simply the next, predictably pre-ordained step in "The Britney Spears Story," which also doubles as her life. It's the point in the story where the commercial failure of her album finally makes her realize that she needs help."

Blog Reviews
- AfterEllen.com review: "Britney’s breathy come-on of a voice is engineered to the brink of nonexistence, but that’s hardly the point. Instead, emerging from the still-smoldering ashes of her disastrous MTV Video Music Award trainwreck is a performer who sounds more confident and unapologetic than ever."
- Idolator review: "The good news: it's not nearly as bad as you may have thought, or been led to believe. Her handlers may be unable to keep her from falling face first into a puddle of her own Frappucino puke outside Wal-Mart, but once she lays down her notorious cat yawp, her superproducers are free to turn it into another squeaky sound effect in their passable, expensive-sounding dance-pop, without fear she's going to storm the studio, drunken grab the decks, and somehow f*ck it up. Blackout is unremarkable, but it's no trainwreck."
- Dlisted review: "I've heard this mess and here's my 9-word review: Don't buy that sh*t, but download it for free."
