Guide Note:
Indie rock band British Sea Power formed in Brighton, England in 2000. As their name implies, the band incorporates a lot of obscure historical references into their songs, and has carried over the historical theme into their live performances, for which they dress in antiquated military uniforms and sometimes appear alongside stuffed animals or people in animal costumes. -

While living in Brighton, they started their own "club night" called "Club Sea Power" and built up a local following. The band was signed to Rough Trade Records in September of 2001, and released their debut CD, The Decline of British Sea Power, in June of 2003. Two more albums have followed, along with appearances in a number of music festivals, and on The Late Show with David Letterman. -
