  • Tire manufacturer Bridgestone aired its first Super Bowl commercial in 2008. The company again purchased two thirty-second spots that aired during Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009. At a reported $3 million per thirty seconds, the commercials aired during the first and third quarter.

  • 2009 Commercials

    The first ad depicts a scenic car trip with Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head which is stopped short due to sheep blocking the road. Slamming on the brakes, Mrs. Potato Head's "mouth" pops off and switches her eyes to enraged ones. The second ad involves a cruisin' space ride on Titan, Saturn's moon. After their joyriding, they stop for rock collecting and return to find their tires were stolen by space visitors. A teaser video was released online prior to the official airing and showed clips of the commercials including a "behind the scenes" look at the commercials.
  • Halftime Show

    Aside from the two spots that will air during the game, Bridgestone is also sponsoring the halftime show with Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen will be performing for twelve minutes along with the E Street Band and 2,000 fans. Various other sponsors have provided funding for the massive halftime performance for Super Bowl XLIII.
