Bridgeport Sound Tigers

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are a minor league ice hockey team that plays in the Atlantic Division of the American Hockey League. Bridgeport joined the AHL as an expansion team during the 2001-02 season. The Tigers have remained in the same city and under the same name for 10 years. Their National Hockey League affiliate, the New York Islanders, has also remained the same. On November 15, 2010, Bridgeport named Pat Bingham as the new coach of the Sound Tigers, replacing Jack Capuano who was promoted to the head coach position of the Islanders. 2009-10 Season

During the 2009-10 season, the Sound Tigers edged their way into the Calder Cup Playoffs, finishing the year with a record of 38-32-4-6, for a total of 86 points and the final seed in playoffs in the Eastern Conference.http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/ahl19412010.html In the first round of the postseason, the Sound Tigers faced the Hershey Bears, who finished in first place in the East Division. Greg Mauldin led the Sound Tigers in scoring in 2009-10 season, scoring 25 goals and 54 points for the club. Jesse Joensuu led the team in assists, earning 34 of them. The team was led in goal by Scott Munroe, he finished the year with a record of 19-16-3. Over the ten years of their existence, the Sound Tigers have produced a number of NHL players.
