Brian Westbrook Injury

Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook was injured during a September 21, 2008, game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Westbrook left the game at the beginning of the second quarter with an apparent foot injury and did not return. The Eagles went on to defeat the Steelers, 15-6.

A September 22, 2008, MRI revealed an ankle strain. Westbrook was listed as day-to-day and could re-join the Eagles on October 5, 2008, as they play the Washington Redskins.

How it Happened

Westbrook was rushing the ball on the opening play of the second quarter when he attempted to hurdle a fellow Eagles player and suffered the foot injury. Westbook limped off of the field and was helped into the locker room. It was not immediately announced the exact nature of the injury, however he did not return to the game.

Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb was also injured in the same game, but later returned to the game. Eagles' running back Tony Hunt was injured in a separate event in the first quarter.
