  • Baseball Career

    After graduating from Chapel Hill High School, Roberts would go on to become a collegiate baseball star for the University of North Carolina where his father was the head coach. During his days at UNC, Roberts became the first Tar Heel to be named Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year and first team All-American. After his father was fired as head coach, Roberts transferred to the University of South Carolina. After another All-America selection with the Gamecocks, Roberts was drafted by the Orioles in the first round of the 1999 amateur draft.

    Roberts would make his MLB debut with the Orioles on June 14, 2001, going 1-4 and scoring a run in an Orioles victory over the New York Mets. Roberts enjoyed an All-Star season in 2005, where he hit .314 batting average, 18 home runs, 73 runs batted in, finishing 18th in American League MVP voting.
