  • Brian McCann is an All-Star catcher who currently plays for the Atlanta Braves.
  • Early Career

A native of the college town of Athens Georgia, McCann made his debut with his home state Atlanta Braves in 2005. In his first season, McCann saw only partial playing time as the personal catcher of veteran hurler John Smoltz. Despite limited playing time, McCann put up solid numbers, and in the National League Division Series against the Houston Astros that year, the young catcher made team history by becoming the first Brave to ever homer in his first playoff at-bat.
  • All-Star

The following year would be McCann's breakout year. After becoming the everyday catcher upon the trade of Johnny Estrada to the Arizona Diamondbacks, McCann became one of the most productive hitters on the team. He hit for power, with 24 home runs, but also hit 93 RBIs, all the while compiling an impressive .333 batting average. He continued his home run and RBI production into 2007, although his average dipped more than 60 points. McCann made the all-star team both years.
