Brian Grant is a former National Basketball Association player who spent 12 seasons in the league between the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics. He retired from the NBA in 2006.
In early 2009, Grant was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's Disease.
Career Highlights
Following being named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Player of the Year two years in a row in college, Brant was drafted eighth overall by the Sacramento Kings in 1994. He was selected for the NBA All-Rookie team in the 1994-1995 season and went on to earn the "J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award" as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers in 1999. Shortly before he retired in 2006, he was involved in a very notable trade that sent Caron Butler, Lamar Odom and Grant from the Miami Heat to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Shaquille O'Neal.
