The 6'4", 240lb Brian Dopirak was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 2nd round of the 2002 MLB entry draft. After playing from 2002 to 2007 in the Cubs minor league system he was released. Toronto Blue Jays then signed Dopirak in 2008 and he has been playing for the Jays minor league system. Dopirak attended Spring Training (Major League Baseball's Preseason) for the Jays in 2009, but did not make the team, spending the 2009 season split between the Jays AA and AAA team.
When playing for the Chicago Cub’s minor league team in 2004, Dopirak was named League MVP with 39 Home Runs and 120 RBI’s (Runs Batted In). He was named the Cubs top prospect in 2005, as well as #21 in the MLB. Unfortunately for Dopirak, he struggled in the 2005 season, broke his foot in the 2006 season, and continued to struggle in 2007. He had dropped so far on the prospect depth chart in Chicago, which lead to his release after 2008 Spring Training, and the Jays signing him.
