On May 14, 2008, Florida authorities arrested Brian Crowder in connection with wildfires that have scorched tens of thousands of acres along the state's Atlantic coast.
Authorities said the 31-year-old Crowder was captured after a brief police chase that began when a resident reportedly saw him toss an accelerant from his car into a field near the fire-ravaged town of Palm Bay.
Crowder was being held on multiple probation violations, arson-related charges had not been filed.
Police describe Crowder as a "person of interest" in the massive Palm Bay fire, which has destroyed at least 22 homes and damaged dozens more.
