Stepping Down
Brian Burke stepped down from his position as general manager of the Ducks on November 12, 2008. Burke will be replaced by the Ducks' senior vice president of hockey operations, Bob Murray. After the transition is made, the Ducks will inform the NHL front office that Burke is free to engage in talks with other NHL teams. The Toronto Maple Leafs have shown interest in hiring Burke once he is available. Burke was offered a contract extension by the Ducks on November 1, but turned the offer down.
