Brewers Playoffs

  • This is Mahalo's playoff coverage page for the Milwaukee Brewers.

In 2008, the Milwaukee Brewers clinched the wild card spot in the final game of the 2008 season with a victory over the Chicago Cubs, combined with the loss of the New York Mets to the Florida Marlins.

It was the first playoff appearance for the Brewers since 1982.

The team was led by manager Ned Yost for most of the season. Then with only weeks left in the season he was replaced by Dale Sveum. At the time the move was seen as controversial and unprecedented. But the move proved to be the adjustment that the team needed to spark a trip to the playoffs.

On the field the team was led by a mix of veterans and youngsters such as Mike Cameron, Ryan Braun, J.J. Hardy, Jason Kendall and slugger Prince Fielder.

The team also benefited from the acquisition of ace C.C. Sabathia at the trade deadline. Since his arrival, he has won 11 games with 7 complete games and 3 shutouts.Philly.com: 15 reasons Brewers are in Postseason
