Breweriana shows are conventions, where people buy, sell and trade breweriana collectibles. Collectibles include vintage beer cans, steins, mugs, coasters, serving trays, limited edition collectibles, neon beer signs, bottle openers, beer taps and other antique promotional items related to brand name beer. The shows are organized by breweriana clubs, like the Brewery Collectibles Club of America (BCAA). Depending on the group that organizes the show, the convention can either be large or small. Some shows are small, local events while others are major conventions.
One of the larger events is the annual BCAA CANvention, held in Pennsylvania. In 2010, the "CANVention" was held after Labor Day weekend, from Thursday, September 9th through Saturday, September 11, at the Valley Forge Convention Center. This breweriana convention was in its 40th year in 2010.http://www.bcca.com/services/canvention_info.asp
Breweriana clubs often post calendars of events on their official websites. Many of the larger clubs, like the Eastern Coast Breweriana Association, send registered members newsletters announcing upcoming conventions, shows or meetings.http://www.eastcoastbrew.com/ The BCAA allows different groups or organizations, no matter how large or small, to post breweriana shows to their online calendar.http://www.bcca.com/services/calendar.asp
Beer memorabilia enthusiasts can peruse through huge collections of breweriana at these shows. Some breweriana shows also serve beer, food and hold raffles or contests. The cost to attend breweriana shows varies depending on the organization, size of the show and the location.http://www.miamivalleybcca.com/
