According to reports, California man Kenneth Samuels was arrested on April 11, 2009, after calls placed to the Pedroia's family store were traced back to him. In the calls, Samuels made death threats, saying he would shoot and kill the men in the family. Like his younger brother, Pedroia played baseball. He broke his ankle while a high school catcher. He recovered and played ball in college, making the team at Shasta Junior College in California.

Dustin Pedroia is a Red Sox infielder. He was the 2007 American League Rookie of the Year and was also selected as the American League Most Valuable Player in 2008.
