Subarachnoid Hemorrhages
The term "subarachnoid hemorrhage" is a form of stroke that includes bleeding into a particular section of the brain, between the arachnoid membrane and the pia mater. Often, this results from a severe head injury, but it can also occur spontaneously without any external trauma. Up to half of all subarachnoid hemorrhages are fatal, and those that survive often suffer from neurological impairment for the remainder of their lives. These symptoms can include fatigue, changes of mood, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and cognitive impairment.http://stroke.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/full/36/12/2773
