For a generation of sports fans, Musburger has been the scene-setting voice for some of the biggest sporting events in the United States since the mid 1970s. In 1975 he was assigned to host a 30-minute show that would lead into NFL games with a former player (Irv Cross), a former Miss America (Phyllis George), and an oddsmaker (Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder). The revamped version of The NFL Today would make Musburger a household name. Over his vast career, Musburger has also called play-by-play and/or hosted many events including: NBA Finals, NCAA Tournament, NCAA Football, Indianapolis 500, Little League World Series, Major League Baseball, and the World Series. He has also appeared in several movies in which he played himself such as Rocky II, The Main Event, and The Waterboy. -
