NHL Career
Burns was drafted 20th overall in the 2003 NHL Draft by the Minnesota Wild. He joined the Wild for his NHL debut that same year, playing in 36 regular season games and scoring one goal and 15 assists. During the 2004-05 NHL Lockout, Burns played for the Wild's American Hockey League affiliate, the Houston Aeros. Following the lockout, he returned to the Wild and scored a career high 43 points during the 2007-08 season.
