Brendan Haywood

Brendan Haywood was born in New York in 1979. He attended Dudley High School. He played in the McDonald's All American Game in 1997 in his last year of high school and then he attended the University of North Carolina for all the 4 years of his collage path. He closed his college career with an average of 10 points, 6 rebounds and almost 1 assist per game in 23 minutes on the field. At UNC, Brendan Haywood scored the first triple double in the history of the college against University of Miami in 2000, scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks (record). After the four years, he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2001 NBA Draft, 20th pick in the first round. Brendan Haywood played 8 seasons in NBA until 2010. Half of this season was played with the Dallas Mavericks with 28 games played. In 2008-09, Haywood scored a season-high 18 points and 12 rebounds vs. MIA in one of the worst seasons of his life. In 2008/2009 he played only 6 games because a surgery to repair a torn right wrist ligament. In 2009/2010 he played for the first time in a team that is not Washington, signing a contract with Dallas Mavericks getting a salary in the range of $6,000,000. Before the beginning of the 2009/2010 NBA playoffs, Brendan averaged 8.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2 blocks and almost 1 assist per game in 26.5 minutes average playing time with his new team. He is a fundamental player for the Mavs Playoffs. The first round of 2009/2010 Playoffs will see Dallas versus San Antonio Spurs. Tim Duncan will be a tough opponent for Haywood.
