Breaking Dawn Synopsis

In Breaking Dawn, we follow Bella through her wedding to Edward and the through their honeymoon which they spend on a remote island off the coast of Brazil. During this idyll, they make love and she becomes pregnant.

The viewpoint of the story then moves to the perspective of werewolf, Jacob Black, as the werewolves become aware of the child and attempt to prevent its birth by killing the mother. Jacob separates from the pack and helps protect Bella until the birth of the child, which is violent and injures her to the point that Edward must transform her into a vampire to save her life.

After the child, Renesmee, is born, another vampire makes accusations that the baby is an immortal child and should therefore be destroyed. The Volturi, the enforcers of Vampire law, decree that the child must die, but the parents, with the aid of other vampires, are able to prove that the accusations are false. A 150 year old human/vampire child comes to their aid, and they are able to prove that the crossbreeds are no threat to the vampire community. With this verification the vampires consider the apparent threat alleviated and the couple returns home with their daughter. http://www.twilightseries.ca/books/breaking-dawn-summary-book/

Review Quotes

  • "Fans finally get what they want at the beginning of this fourth book in the bestselling Twilight Saga: a fairytale wedding, a honeymoon, and s-e-x. Once that's out of the way, teens who are just in it for the romance shouldn't go any further. All the books in the series always ran too long, but they made up for the length with fun fantasy characters, plenty of romantic tension, and a good final battle at the end. This time the characters get everything they want at the beginning of the book and leave fans hanging at the end."—Common Sense MediaCommon Sense Media: Breaking Dawn Book Review
