Brazilian Girls are a quartet from New York whose music is characterized by their mixing of the musical genres reggae, tango, chanson, house, electronica, jazz and bossa nova.
History
The band is composed of three men and one female member, who is singer Sabine Sciubba. She usually incorporates various languages into their music such as German, Spanish, French, Italian and English which she learned in her childhood. Sciubba began to gain attention when she recorded her two first jazz albums: You Do not Know What Love Is and Meet Me in London. The band was founded officially in 2003 in a New York club which helped accelerate their success. In 2004 the band contributed to Wax Poetic' s release The Nublu Sessions. Members Aaron Johnston and Jesse Murphy worked on John Zorn' s album Voices in the Wilderness.
The albums
Verve Records came to be interested in working with the band and in 2004 the label released Lazy Lover, an EP. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 2005, and their second album entitled Talk to La Bomb hit the streets in September 2006. Their third album is due to be released in early 2008.
