Brazilian Food

Brazilian food is a diverse cuisine influenced by the indigenous people and the immigrant populations from countries such as Portugal, Spain and Italy. Common ingredients used throughout the country are: yuca, coconut, chili peppers, coriander, lime, banana, pineapple, pumpkin and palm oil.

Four Food Regions

Northern Brazilian dishes are dominated by the native Amerindians, northeastern Brazil is influenced by African and Portuguese dishes, southeastern Brazil shows Amerindian origins mixed with Japanese, Spanish and Middle Eastern foods and southern Brazil is a combination of Portuguese, German and Italian dishes.
