Brazil Fashion Week is also known as Sao Paulo Fashion Week and SPFW. The show celebrates its fifteenth year in 2010. The event is staged bi-annually (each January and June).
The Brazil Fashion Week began in 1996 and was originally called " Morumbi Fashion Brazil". The name was changed to Brazil Fashion Week in 2001.
Now in 2010, the Brazil Fashion Week is the most prestigious and important Fashion Show in the whole of South America. The Brazil Fashion Week is particularly renowned for its beachwear. Many famous Fashion Designers choose to exhibit at the Brazil Fashion Week, these include Alexandre Herchcovitch, Amir Slama and Tufi Duek as examples.
Brazil Fashion Week Winter 2010
Alexandre Herchcovitch was the star designer at this show, according to the reviewers at Trendland. His male models' faces were made up to look like skulls. He presented large-shouldered men's fashions reminiscent of the 1980s. Summer 2009 Sao Paulo Fashion Week
Niemeyer's Bienal Building was made to look like a Tokyo setting in honor of the 100th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil. Alexandre Herchcovitch presented military inspired designs. Fashion Designer Neon brought ethnic patterns and shapes from Mexico, but in modern fabrics with modern prints. Winter 2009 Sao Paulo Fashion Week
