Brandy Singer

Brandy is an American singer, producer, songwriter, and actress. She was born Brandy Rayana Norwood on February 11, 1979 in McComb, Mississippi. Her family relocated to Carson, California when she was a young child. Three years after meeting Stokes, Brandy was offered a recording contract with Atlantic Records. Brandy released her self-titled debut album, Brandy, in 1994, with the first single "I Wanna Be Down” reaching the number one position on the Billboard R&B Singles chart. Brandy’s career and personal life did not involve much controversy until 2006, when she was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles that claimed the life of 38-year-old Awatef Aboudihaj. It was reported that Brandy’s Range Rover struck Aboudihaj’s car, as the singer had not noticed the cars in front of her slowing down. Due to a lack of evidence, Brandy was not charged with vehicular manslaughter, however Aboudihaj's family sued Brandy for $50 million, claiming wrongful death. In addition to her many film and television credits, Brandy has also ventured into reality television. She starred in MTV’s Special Delivery with Robert Smith as they awaited the arrival of their daughter, Sy’rai, in 2002.
