Williams graduated at South Hills High School in Forth Worth, Texas where he was the no. 69 overall prospect in Dallas area by the Dallas Morning News and rated as one of the state's top 20 defensive linemen. He attended Texas Tech University where he was named to The Sporting News All-Big 12 Freshman Team in 2006 and All-Big 12 Conference Second Team and honorable mention as a sophomore in 2007.
