Brandon Dante Underwood was born on June 24, 1986, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his football career playing at wide receiver and cornerback at Hamilton High School in Ohio. Underwood went on to play college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes football team and Cincinnati Bearcats football team in the NCAA. His first two seasons were spent at Ohio State where he appeared in the BCS Championship Game with the Buckeyes. He transferred to Cincinnati in 2007, sat out one year, then returned to the field as the Bearcats played in the Fiesta Bowl. Underwood earned a selection to the All-Big East Conference team and was named the Bearcats' Special Teams Player of the Year.
