Brandon Sutter was born in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, on February 14, 1989. He is the son of Brent Sutter, head coach of the Calgary Flames, and former NHL player. Sutter's father is not the only member of his family to be drafted into the NHL. He has five uncles that were drafted into the NHL as well, and two cousins.
