Brandeis University Commencement 2010: Paul Simon Performs "The Boxer"
On May 23, 2010, Paul Simon of the Simon and Garfunkel duo received an honorary doctorate from Brandeis University. Shown here is his performance of the duo's first recorded song on that day. "The Boxer," which Simon wrote, is a boxer's lament of his struggle to survive in the Big Apple. With his acoustic guitar, Simon starts out playing an improvised version of the song. Towards the end, the song becomes more similar to its radio version.
