Bram Stoker was an Irish author, best known for his classic horror novel about a tortured count and infamous vampire, Dracula.
Stoker began his career by publishing his only non-fiction book The Duties of Clerks of Petty Sessions in Ireland while he working in Dublin as a clerk. In the late 1870s, he moved to London and became a business manager. He spent the duration of his career working at the Lyceum Theatre as its business manager. Stoker wrote novels as a side project, to support his family. He never attempted to become a full-time writer. Only after his death did the depth of his success become evident during the legalities of dealing with his estate.
