  • Career

    Bram Stoker began his career publishing his only non-fiction book ''The Duties of Clerks of Petty Sessions in Ireland while working as a clerk Dublin. He then moved to London in the late 1870s and became a business manager. He spent the rest of his career working at the Lyceum Theatre in a non-creative capacity. Stoker wrote his novels as a side project to support his wife and child. He never tried to become a full-time writer. Only after his death did the depth of success become apparent to his estate.
