World 4 - Time and Place
The Pit 2
The trick behind this world is that time's movement is directly related to your own movement. So if you move forward, time moves forward at the same speed you're moving. If you stand still, so does time. If you move backwards, then time rewinds. It'll take some getting used to, so use this level as a means to get yourself accustomed to the new mechanic.
You want the enemy below to move into the tunnel with the glowing key. In order to do this, you must jump over the gap and keep moving forward until he grabs the key.
Once the enemy touches the key, jump down into the pit, snatch the key away from him, and rewind time to bring yourself back to the top.
Unlock the door and proceed to the next level.
Jumpman
Puzzle Piece #1: This level is a good example of the challenges that are brought forth by having time move according to your movements.
Try to climb the structure while jumping over all the enemies in your path. You'll find that once you reach the third ladder, an enemy will always be on top to block your path.
Remain on the second platform and run all the way to the left, thereby rewinding time. This will cause the enemy who fell from the top at the beginning to rise back up, giving you a springboard to reach the top platform.
From there it is a straight path to the first puzzle piece.
Puzzle Piece #2: Jump down and head to the right for another similar structure.
Avoid the enemies and fireballs as you make your way to the top of the second ladder.
Rather than going left to the next ladder, you can simply jump on top of the object to your right and then jump up to the top platform. Move to the left and claim the second puzzle piece.
Puzzle Piece #3: Proceed across the top platform, jump on the object that stops the fireballs and jump to the right to pick up the glowing key.
Rewind time all the way to the point when you picked up the first puzzle piece. Jump across the gap on the right and unlock the door to claim the final puzzle piece for this level.
Just Out of Reach
Puzzle Piece #1: As you'll quickly find out if you try to climb the ladder, the enemy above will always block your way. To remedy this, flip the switch on the left to make the left wall go up and the right wall go down.
Climb the ladder and move to the left side of the platform. Your goal here is to move enough distance to the left so that time rewinds to the point where the left wall is lowered and the right wall is raised.
In order to do this, bounce on the enemy that is coming back up on the left side, and then bounce back.
From there, just springboard over the wall and claim the first puzzle piece.
Puzzle Piece #2: Jump to the right after collecting the first puzzle piece and bounce off the enemy to land on the ledge to the right.
Climb the ladder and then jump off to reach the top platform on the left side.
Walk all the way to the left until the enemy on the top platform comes back to life.
Now walk right behind the enemy and jump once you reach the end to land on the top ledge on the right.
Keep walking forward until the enemy picks up the key.
Steal the key away, rewind time until you're back at the very top platform, unlock the door and claim your puzzle piece.
Hunt! 2
- Puzzle Piece #1: At a glance, this puzzle seems exactly the same as the previous Hunt! However now that you control time just by moving, it needs to be approached in an entirely different manner.
- Kill or avoid the enemies as you make your way to the top left of the map. Even if you kill the enemies on the way, you'll just bring them back to life by simply walking to the left.
- Once you reach the top left corner of the level, kill the first enemy on the top platform.
- Move to the right and head down the ladder. Jump on the enemy below to bounce to the platform on the left.
- Jump over the enemy on this platform so that you are on the left side of it. Be sure not to go too far to the left or the enemy at the top platform will revive and you'll have to kill him again.
- Now jump on the enemy and continue moving to the right so that time keeps moving forward.
- Jump down one level and then jump to the platform on the left.
- Once again, jump over this enemy and then jump on him while you're heading to the right.
- Jump on the enemy below and bounce off him to land on the platform to the right.
- This is the tricky part. You have to bounce twice off of this enemy in order to reach the platform above so you can stomp the last one.
- In order to do this, start on the right side of the enemy, hold left while jumping on him and then quickly change direction to bounce on him again in order to have the height and momentum needed to reach the platform above.
- From there just stomp the last enemy, climb the ladder and claim your puzzle piece.

Movement By Degrees
- Puzzle Piece #1: Make your way past the killer plants and climb the ladder on your right.
- Jump across the gap and make your way to the left side.
- Since the plants aren't affected by your movements but the spiny enemy is, you can guide the spiny enemies past the plants by walking to the right when they're in their pipes and stopping when they emerge.
- Once the spiny enemy makes it past the last plant, keep heading to the right until you hear the tingle that indicates that the key has been picked up.
- Head back towards the entrance and pick up the key.
- Rewind time until your back on the platform above, climb the ladder, unlock the door, and claim the first puzzle piece.
- Puzzle Piece #2: Head to the right but stop once you reach the top of the first ladder.
- Without stopping, head to the right, jump down and continue walking until the plant that is closest to the canon is inside its pipe. Once this happens, immediately pause time.
- While continuing to hold down X, alternate between rewinding and pausing time so that the glowing enemy makes it past the three killer plants. From here it's just a matter of waiting until the enemy comes down to the platform you're on and bouncing off of him to reach the puzzle piece.

Movement, Amplified
Puzzle Piece #1: Make your way past the killer plants and climb the ladder on the right side to reach the first row of clouds.
Remember that time moves according to the speed that you move at. So if you're moving extremely fast, so does the world around you.
With this in mind, move to the left until you reach the canon. These clouds will move you extremely fast, allowing the enemy below to make it past the two fast moving plants that guard the key to the left of the entrance.
Once you hear the tingle that indicates the key has been picked up, rewind time and pick up the key.
Use the key on the locked door to the left of the puzzle piece.
Puzzle Piece #2: Climb to the top of the ladder on the right and jump off of the very edge of the canon. If you timed your jump correctly, a fast moving cloud should catch you.
Run to the right across the large cloud and jump from platform to platform in order to reach the second piece.
Fickle Companion
- Puzzle Piece #1: Start off by picking up your fickle companion, the key, and head to the right using the lower path.
- Use the key to unlock the door and keep heading right.
- Wait for the enemy to enter this room and then stomp him once he does.
- Quickly walk to the left to bring the key back to life before the canon fires another enemy down.
- If all goes according to plan, the new enemy will grab the key and will deliver it to you, allowing you to stomp him and use the key to unlock the door that seals off the first puzzle piece.
- Puzzle Piece #2: To avoid confusion, just rewind the whole level to the very beginning. This is a tough puzzle piece to explain.
- Once again, pick up the key and head to the right. This time, jump over the pit and climb the ladder.
- Hit the switch and walk off the edge.
- Stomp the enemy and then wait on top of the little square on the ground for the canon to spawn another enemy.
- The enemy should land on the platform on to the right that you activated with the switch. Once the enemy stops bouncing move to the left to bring the enemy on to the platform above. Since you dropped down from that platform, the key will jump back up right into the enemy's hands.
- Quickly climb the ladder on the left and move to the left side of the next ladder.
- Once the enemy passes by the ladder, stomp him and take the key.
- Climb the ladder, open the door and claim your prize.
- Work your way to the right side of the level and you'll have completed this wacky and crazy world.
