World 3 - Time and Mystery
The Pit
This short level introduces a new and very important element to the game. Objects that have a green glow around them are not affected by your time manipulation abilities.
To demonstrate what that means, jump down into the pit below and snag the key away from the enemy.
Now rewind time so that you're back on top of the pit. The key follows along with you because it is not affected by you rewinding time.
Keep this in mind as you jump across the gap and exit through the door on the right.
There and Back Again
Puzzle Piece #1: Use your knowledge from the previous level to solve this puzzle. No matter how fast you move, the wall that is creeping its way down will block the locked door before you're able to grab the key and make it back.
However, since the key isn't affected by rewinding time and the wall is, you can grab the key, rewind time so that you're back on the bottom fence, unlock the door and grab the puzzle piece without the wall even getting close to coming down.
Phase
- Puzzle Piece #1: Getting this puzzle piece may seem tricky at first, but it is actually pretty easy.
- You have two rows of clouds with one row not being affected by time manipulation. This means that if you were to stop time, the bottom row of clouds would continue moving.
- Use this to your advantage by jumping forward, pausing time while you're still in the air, and waiting for a cloud to move under you before you make time start again. Remember that to pause time, you have to hold X and press RB once.
- Puzzle Piece #2: The second piece is obtained the exact same way as the first, only it is a much larger gap that you have to cross.
- Simply jump to the right, pause time until a glowing cloud moves to where you're about to land and repeat the process until you reach the puzzle piece on top of the cannons.

The Ground Beneath Her Feet
Puzzle Piece #1: Whenever you see a key in one of those small alcoves that Tim can't reach, it should immediately make you realize that you need to get an enemy to get the key out for you. So your first priority here is to get the enemy that is on the platform above on to the platform below.
To do this, climb the ladder, jump to the small platform below, and hit the switch to move the glowing platform to the left.
Rewind time so that the enemy comes back to life, and watch as it falls onto the glowing platform and makes its way to the key.
Once it has the key, steal it away and hit the switch again to make the platform move back to the right.
Unlock the door and claim the first puzzle piece.
Puzzle Piece #2: Hit the switch again to make the platform go back to the left. Climb the ladder and jump over the gap to reach the next part of this stage.
The first thing you have to do here hit the switch to move the platform to the right so that you can climb the ladder.
Here is where you have to use a little ingenuity. Remember that when you rewind time, you will always perform the exact same actions that you just performed regardless of what has changed in your environment.
With this in mind, climb the ladder, move yourself on to the glowing platform and position yourself right above the puzzle piece. Pause there for a second or two, and then go back to the switch.
Hit the switch, wait for the platform to move back to the left and then rewind time to the point where you're standing over the puzzle piece. Once you resume time, you'll fall right on top of it.
Rewind time once again so that you're back at the switch, move the platform back to the right and proceed across to reach the end of the level.
Tight Channels
- You'll meet a new enemy here in the form of the rabbits. These guys disguise themselves as flowers and then pop out of the ground with the intent of pouncing on you.
- Anyway, make your way to the right to get started on the first puzzle piece for this level.
- Puzzle Piece #1: Continue heading right until you reach the two ladders. Climb one to the platform above to find the first puzzle piece just out of reach.
- As always, when there is a puzzle piece out of reach of normal jumps, it means you need to jump on an enemy in order to reach it.
- Notice that the glowing enemy on the very top platform is making his way to the platform you need him to be on, but he keeps getting pelted with fireballs.
- To help him out of his cruel fate, jump down from the platform and head left until you see the glowing baddie.
- Use your rewind so that the enemy is constantly in between the two fireballs.
- Eventually the rewind will put you and the enemy back on the platform that you jumped down from, allowing you to jump on the enemy and grab the first puzzle piece.
- Puzzle Piece #2: Continue heading right, but be careful of the many rabbits and killer plants that inhabit the area.
- Your puzzle piece is all the way at the end of the level, but you can't get to it due to the fact that the fireballs that are being fired from the canon on the left don't give you enough time to run to the right and climb the ladder.
- We can do something about this though. You should recall that you passed a glowing canon that was firing diagonally downwards.
- Head back to the glowing canon and use your rewind power to try and make it so that the glowing canon fires its fireballs into the other canon's fireballs.
- Doing so will make the canon all the way on the left fire at a rate that is half as fast, giving you more than enough time to reach the ladder and grab the third puzzle piece.

Irreversible
Puzzle Piece #1: As soon as the level starts, don't do anything that might cause you to rewind. Kill the enemies that come your way and just stand still until the horizontally moving platform above beats out the vertically moving glowing platform.
Once it does, Climb the ladder, kill or avoid the many enemies that line the path and grab the puzzle piece on the left.
Puzzle Piece #2: Head to the right until you reach a ladder that goes underground. To avoid a future headache, kill the two rabbits that pop up from both sides of the ladder before heading down.
To your left, a killer plant guards a key. Grab the key and unlock the glowing door to your right.
Since the door has a green glow and the key doesn't, you can rewind time and the door will still be unlocked, but the key will be back in your hands. Use the key to unlock the next door and claim the puzzle piece.
Puzzle Piece #3: Jump down to find that this time you have to unlock three doors. It's time for a little more Braid ingenuity.
Think this through. Unlike the last two doors, the first door here isn't glowing. Meaning if you use the key and rewind time, the door will just go back to being locked.
This means that the first key you see is useless right now, so ignore it.
Bypass the first key and the three killer plants to make it to the ladder on the left. Fall all the way down to find a glowing key.
Rewind time so that you're back in front of the three doors. Use the glowing key on the first door, then grab the key to the left and use it on the glowing door.
Rewind time and use the key again on the third door to get the third puzzle piece.
Climb back up the ladder and head all the way to the right to move on to the next level.
Lair
Commit suicide by falling into the pit over where the glowing key resides and then rewind time to return to life with a shiny new key in hand.
Unlock the door and proceed to the right to fight the first boss of the game.
Wake the boss up by pressing B near one of the chandeliers to make it fall down. The boss isn't affected by time manipulation, so bring the chandelier back up by rewinding time.
The goal here is to make the chandelier fall on the boss five times while avoiding the fireballs he shoots at you and the enemies that come out of the canon to the right.
Just get into a pattern of dropping a chandelier whenever he walks under one and then rewinding time to bring it back up.
Eventually the boss falls, dropping the key that you can use to exit through the door on the right.
A Tingling
- Puzzle Piece #1: These next two pieces are probably the trickiest puzzle pieces you'll have encountered so far, but once you get the idea, they're fairly easy to obtain.
- The first puzzle piece is located on a small platform at the top of a ladder that is out of reach of a normal jump. This time however, you will not be able to move an enemy down there for you to springboard off of; you're going to have to find a way to get on top of the glowing platform when it moves underneath the ladder.
- To do this, the first thing that you want to do is move the platform all the way to the right. So climb up the ladder on the right, and work your way to the switch by going down the winding path on the left.
- Hit the switch, then make your way up the various ladders and travel to the left side of the level.
- Position yourself at the very edge of the platform that rests on top of the entrance to the level and wait there for a second or two.
- Now head back to the switch. Flip it, and then quickly rewind time and make it rewind at 8x until you're back at the platform above the entrance to the level. Jump on to the glowing platform when it gets close and quickly jump to the ladder. Climb up and claim your prize.
- Puzzle Piece #2: The puzzle piece you're after is caged behind a timed wall that seals off the puzzle piece about 20 seconds after the level begins. It's impossible to get the key, make it to the door and climb the ladder all within 20 seconds of the start of the level, so we're going to have to find another way around it.
- Use the switch to put the platform back on the right side and grab the key from the enemy on the left if you haven't already. Unlock the door and head up the ladder to reach the next part of the level.
- Climb across the fence to the right side and then jump down to the bottom level.
- Jump on to the lower fence and make your way all the way to the left to find a switch in a small alcove.
- Hit the switch to cause a platform to emerge from the middle of the fiery death pit.
- Rewind time until you're over the newly raised platform and drop down onto it.
- This is a very special platform that will give Tim the ability to be immune to his own time manipulation. If you were to rewind time all the way to the very beginning, Tim would still remain on the platform. Do that right now.
- Once you've rewound time to the very beginning, quickly climb all the way back to the ladder on the left and grab the puzzle piece before the wall comes down.
- Head all the way to the right to finish off World 3 for good.
