Canadian professional hockey player Brad Stuart currently plays for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League.
Prior to his NHL career Stuart played for the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League starting in 1995. He was drafted third overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 1997 NHL Draft. Stuart made his NHL debut with the Sharks in 1999, playing all 82 regular season games. After just over five seasons in San Jose, Stuart was traded to the Boston Bruins with two additional players for Joe Thornton on November 30, 2005. 14 months later he was traded again, this time to the Calgary Flames on February 10, 2007.
At the end of the 2007 season he signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Kings. He was then traded to the Detroit Red Wings from the Kings on February 26, 2008. Stuart was a much-needed boost to the Red Wings as they played in the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs, where they went on to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins to win the Stanley Cup. Stuart continued with the Wings in the 2008-09 season, reaching the Stanley Cup Finals once again, but with a difference result as the Penguins came out on top in seven games.
Brad Stuart 2009-10 Season
In the 2009-10 season with the Red Wings, Stuart played in all 82 games during the regular season. He contributed four goals and 16 assists for 20 points, plus added 22 penalty minutes. On the year, he finished with a +/- of -12. Brad Stuart vs. Drew Miller
Brad Stuart leveled Drew Miller, then of the Anaheim Ducks during a game in the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He was given an interference penalty for the hit, which made him clearly upset. Things changed the following season after Drew Miller joined the Red Wings and the two became teammates.
