Brad Smith is a wide receiver for NFL’s New York Jets.
Smith was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Missouri. Smith, who was converted to wide receiver upon his entrance into the NFL, played quarterback at Missouri, and set all kinds of school records. When he declared himself eligible for the NFL draft, he was never looked at as a potential QB for a variety of reasons which ranged from accuracy to arm strength among other things.
The Jets employ him as a jack of all trades, gadget kind of player lining him up in many situations and asking him to do many different tasks on the field.

Player 2009-10 season
Smith never had a defined role up until this season where the Jets started to use him as a gadget player of sorts. He lined up at QB quite a bit, ran the ball some, lined up at wide receiver, took snaps on special teams faking puts, and even threw the ball. Smith did a little of everything for the Jets in 09, as he was an essential part of the Jets success. Smith contributed to the Jets cause by carrying the ball 18 times for 103 yards, and had a 45 yard completion to WR Jerricho Cotchery in the AFC Title Game which sparked an early touchdown drive in that game.
Smith's role has become pretty clear on this team, as he is the gadget player. Whenever the Jets try to incorporate trickery into the game, Smith is the guy they look to.
