Brad Richards

  • Brad Richards is a native of Canada currently playing hockey for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League. He was traded to the Stars from the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 26, 2008.

    Richards broke his left hand during a March 21, 2009, game against the San Jose Sharks and was listed as out indefinitely. It was Richards' first game back since missing 15 games after breaking his right wrist on February 17, 2009.ESPN.com: Richards Breaks Left Hand in Return

  • Early Success

    Richards was drafted out of the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League 64th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1998 NHL draft. He made his NHL debut with the Lightning in 2000 and was selected for the NHL All-Rookie Team. He helped the Lightning win the 2004 Stanley Cup Championship and went on to win the Conn Smythe Trophy for the MVP of the playoffs as well as the Lady Byng Trophy for outstanding sportsmanship.
  • Recent Years

    During the 2004-05 NHL lockout, Richards played for the Aq Bars Kazan of the Russian Super League. He returned to Tampa Bay the following season and played with the team until 2008, when he was traded to the Dallas Stars.

    On the international level, Richards played in the 2006 Winter Olympics with team Canada.
