Brad Hawpe

  • Major League Baseball right fielder Brad Hawpe currently plays for the Colorado Rockies. On March 3, 2008, he re-signed with the Rockies to a reported three-year $17M contract. Hawpe was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1998.

  • Early Life

    Bradley Bonte Hawpe was born in Forth Worth, Texas. on June 22, 1979. He attended high school in Forth Worth, Texas, at Boswell High School, where he would help the baseball team win the 4A State Championship. After graduating high school, he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 47th round. But he elected to attend Louisiana State University. He would be part of the the roster that won the 2000 College World Series for the LSU Tigers Baseball Team.
  • Pro Career

    Hawpe was selected in the 11th round of the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft by the Colorado Rockies. He made his major league debut with the Rockies on May 1, 2004. He would play in 42 games that season hitting .248 with three homeruns. He would earn a starting role in 2005, and in 2007 would be part of the roster to reach the World Series, where they lost to the eventual champion Boston Red Sox.
