Boyd Devereaux

  • Boyd Devereaux is a Canadian ice hockey player for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League.

After being drafted by the Edmonton Oilers during the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Devereaux won gold as a member of the 1997 World Junior Championship team. He made his NHL debut with the Oilers in the 1997-1998 season, during which he would play 38 games.

  • Professional Career

At the close of the 1999-2000 season, the Oilers opted not to resign Devereaux, so he signed with the Detroit Red Wings in the off-season. With the Red Wings, Devereaux was able to overcome confidence issues and post concussion syndrome to become a strong utility player and score a career high of 25 points during his first season as a Red Wing. The following season, he was placed on the so-called "Two Kids and an Old Goat Line" with Brett Hull and Pavel Datsyuk, which was instrumental in Detroit becoming the 2002 Stanley Cup Champions.

After four seasons with the Red Wings, Devereaux signed on for a year with the Phoenix Coyotes, with whom he played a career high of 78 games and earned 44 penalty minutes during the 2005-2006 season. Again an unrestricted free agent, Devereaux signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in October of 2006 and would split the season between the National and American Hockey Leagues. Devereaux joined the Maple Leafs for 62 games during the 2007-2008 season.
