  • History

The common misconception is that gloves were made to cushion the blow of a fighter, while that is an important factor, gloves are mostly used as a cushion to decrease the demands on the fighter's hands.
  • Types of Gloves

There are several variations of Boxing Gloves used in training and in actual bouts. Fight gloves are the standard gloves used in a bout. They usually weigh 10 to 12 ounces and are worn over hand wraps. Sparring Gloves are similar to fight gloves but are more padded and are 14 to 20 Ounces. Speed Gloves are used in training and are light weight and notably thinner. They are designed to use with speed bags and for shadow boxing.
