Bowling Green State University is a public four-year institution of higher learning. It is located in Bowling Green, Ohio, approximately 20 miles south of Toledo. It is a member of the Mid-American Athletic Conference.

Originally established to train teachers, Bowling Green State University awarded its first bachelor's degrees in 1917. The first doctoral programs were added in 1935.
