Rather than holding a playoff like other sports, college football teams play in bowl games at the conclusion of each season. In the weeks leading up to the official announcement, sports broadcasters, writers and bloggers made their predictions as to who will play in each of the games.
The matchups of all 34 2008-2009 bowl games were announced on December 7, 2008. The Oklahoma Sooners and Florida Gators were selected to play in the 2009 BCS Championship Game.
