Bottle Service is featured in many upscale bars and nightclubs. The purpose bottle service is for patrons to purchase an entire bottle of liquor for their personal consumption. It typically includes a reserved table for the patron's party and mixers of the patron's choice.
In April 2008, the Boston Licensing Board began cracking down on the service in the city's nightclubs. The board's chairman Daniel Pokaski claims the practice violates “happy hour” laws that ban serving more than two drinks at a time to a patron.
