Located in Boston, Massachusetts, most of its athletic teams are members of the America East Athletic Conference.
Unique History
Boston University's charter specifically states that the university is open to all, without regard for race, sex or religion. It graduated the first female Ph.D., the first degreed Native American medical doctor, and the first African-American psychiatrist in the United States, among many other notables (including Martin Luther King Jr.).Boston University: History
Housing
Every member of Boston University's population of over 16,000 undergraduates is guaranteed on-campus housing. Though the school has a large number of residence halls and has built several new ones in the past few years, some overflow students are housed in hotels. Since Boston is a densely packed urban center, the residential facilities are sometimes located some distance from academic buildings and free shuttles are provided to bring students to the campus.
