Bosavi Woolly Rat

A giant species of rat found in Papua New Guinea is temporarily being called the Bosavi woolly rat until its scientific name is decided. The giant rats measure over 30 inches long and weigh over 3 pounds. The Bosavi wollys were discovered in the empty volcanic crater of Mount Bosavi by a team of researchers with the BBC's Natural History Unit in 2009. About 40 other new species were found in the area.http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/sep/07/discovery-species-papua-new-guinea
